ALBION RIVER CAMPGROUND

FISHING REPORT 26 July 2010

FISHING

The weather has been a real challenge this summer.  The wind has finally slowed down some and the fleet has been able to get out!

Chase caught his first Cabezon of the year down by Elk in 85 feet of water 4 oz green lead head with a white scampi tail.

Lou caught these real close.  He didn't say exactly where.  That's a really nice Vermillion!!

More salmon have been caught lately.  Do be careful, a lot of silvers have been caught recently.

Steve and Janet with 2 nice Kings

Slim & Bob with some nice fish on the opening day of rock fish

DIVING

Diving this weekend was very good.  Nice visibility and relatively flat seas.
Bret brought this nice 10.5" in from Dark Gulch
Jed got some really nice Abalone and some Uni too
Some divers have to discuss it first.
A little air is needed sometimes.
Triumphant return.
There was still some fish out there for Paul, nice one's too.
Fish and Game measuring stick.
If you want to clear the area of kelp, send down an anchor.
A cruse up the river is next on the divers to-do list.

Kayaking the Albion

Not all kayakers and canoers were holding off for the long holiday. There was lots of fun activity on the river over the weekend with well timed really high tides. Labor day weekend should be a repeat. You will have mid-day high tides for pleasurable sightseeing then too.

A big smile is a good start.
Got to get this thing pointed in the right direction.
All kayaks should come equipped with fishing poles.
Two fishing poles are even better even if it is just for catch and release.
Berry picking Sunday. Wonder if headless dogs enjoy the berry patch?.

Lingcod Derby for 2009

The big lingcod derby is officially over. Ron is in first place with his 12.6 pound lingcod that had a big octopus in its belly. Bill needed two tries to got the second place lingcod at 12.3 pounds. Steve who started out in first place is now in third place with his 11.6 pound lingcod. Steve tried really hard but could not get a bigger one.

Didn't get a photo of Ron and his 12.6 pound fish.
Didn't get a photo of Bill's fish either. His second place winner was 12.3 pounds.
Steve's third place 11 pound, 6 ounce lingcod. and its little buddy.
